
PANAJI: The Goa government is preparing to pull down the Romeo Lane outlet at Vagator, a beachfront shack operated by brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, in the aftermath of the recent nightclub fire tragedy.
Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub at Arpora was the site of the devastating midnight blaze that claimed 25 lives, after which the duo reportedly flew to Thailand within hours.
Officials said the Vagator structure had long-standing construction violations and had previously been sealed by revenue authorities.
"The Vagator structure will be demolished today as per CMO directions," Officials said.
An official said the Tourism department has sought support from the North Goa Collector, including police protection and an executive magistrate, to execute the demolition
The official said that the department had earlier ordered the demolition of a portion of the illegal structure of the club, which was partially implemented.
The official also said that the outer structure of Birch will also be taken up for demolition subsequently
